There are always times when having an extra $100 a day feels like it could make all the difference in the world.
Whether bills are mounting, you have a special expense to pay for, or you simply want to stash some money aside for Christmas shopping, understanding how to make that extra $100 can be a huge help.
Thanks to the Internet, there are lots of options out there when it comes to earning some extra cash. Some of these will easily earn you $100 or more on their own, while other ideas are smaller tasks that you can combine to get the total you need.
Either way, I like all of these options because they are unique and often easy to fit into a busy schedule.
If you need some extra cash, consider one of these money-making ideas.

1) Work as a Virtual Assistant
A virtual assistant provides administrative help to businesses and entrepreneurs who need assistance running their businesses. This often looks like in-house administrative work, except you’re able to do it all from the comfort of your own home (while setting your own rates, choosing your own schedule and picking your own services – what a dream!).
There are lots of things that a virtual assistant might do. Here are some ideas:
- Customer service
- Email management
- Social media management
- Article outlines
- Content creation
- Graphic design
- Order fulfillment
- The list goes on…
Virtual assistant work is often considered a great way to make $100 a day because it’s so versatile. Plus, it’s very easy to work for more than one client at a time.

2) Work as a Freelance Writer
Freelance writing is my favorite way to make $100 a day from home. In fact, I make much more than that all the time.
Freelance writing is one of the highest-paying work-from-home jobs out there. There is so much potential, just because there is so much writing that needs to be done.
Here is a look at just some of the things you could do:
- How-to guides
- Blog posts
- About Me pages
- Website content
- Social media content
- Email marketing campaigns
- White papers
- Technical guides
Freelance writing is the kind of job you can do whenever you have spare time, and, if you’re good, it’s very easy to make decent money. There are a lot of people out there who either hate writing or just don’t have the time to keep up with all their content needs and who will gladly pay someone to do that task for them. Let that person be you!
3) Work as a Proofreader
Proofreading is a fun way to make money because all you really need is a good grasp of grammar and an eagle-eye.
Proofreaders are responsible for finding typos in documents before they go to print or publication. This is a job that’s ideal for someone who needs to stay home, but wants a way to make money in their spare time.
There is a process to learning how to become a proofreader and understanding how to find clients, which is why it’s always good to have someone to guide you through.
I recommend Proofreading Academy because they offer you guaranteed employment if you successfully pass their course.
Proofreading does take some time to get going, but once you’re established as a proofreader you can make $100 a day doing this job.
Read my Proofreading Academy review to better understand how this works.
4) Get Paid to Teach English Online
Teaching English online to language learners worldwide is a booming field. It’s easier than ever to connect with people around the globe as you help them learn English.
The great thing about making money this way is that there are a number of highly-rated companies for you to choose from. They all have different requirements or perks that make them unique. Some like you to have a Bachelor’s degree while others may require previous teaching experience or working with children. Still others require nothing but a good attitude.
Interested in learning more? Here are some of the top companies that hire English teachers from home:
- Magic Ears
- Teach Away
One of the best parts about this job is that you’re often able to establish regular hours and receive a dependable salary.

5) Get Paid to Be an Online Coach
Coaching is something that’s possible right from your living room, and you can make good money doing it. If you have a specialty, like fitness, nutrition, or even teaching, you might be surprised to find that there are people willing to pay you to coach them.
This kind of job is ideal because people are often willing to pay a premium, and since you’ll be coaching in something you’re really good at (you need to specialize with this big time), then it won’t be too difficult for you to share your knowledge.
Stumped for ideas? Think about how you can fill a need for people. If you’re a fitness coach, you could oversee workout plans or create routines for your clients. Or, help a busy mom organize her home as an organizational coach. You could even guide someone in setting up and running a business as a business coach.
The possibilities are endless.
6) Sell Your Photos
Taking photos is an easy way to make some extra cash, and there are a lot of ways to earn that dough.
One of the most common ways to make money is to sell your photos to stock photography sites. You won’t get paid a ton, but you usually do make a commission each time someone purchases your photo for use. Some of the stock photography sites you want to check out include:
- iStock/Getty Images
- Visual Society
There are also apps you can use to sell photos. Check out Pay Your Selfie, Foap, Snapped4U, and Instaprints to learn more about these.
Looking for a different idea? If you have a good eye, you can take beautiful photos and sell them as art.
7) Work as a Bookkeeper
Bookkeeping is similar to working as a virtual assistant, but it’s more specialized.
As a freelance bookkeeper, you’ll offer the administrative oversight involved with keeping records of sales, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial transactions. This isn’t quite the same thing as accounting, and you generally don’t need to be a professional accountant to offer this service.
Bookkeeping used to be the kind of job that you had to go into the office to do, but that’s definitely not necessary anymore. With the proper setup and training, you can easily do this job from home.
8) Teach an Online Class on Outschool
The last couple of years has seen a search in homeschooling, and platforms like Outschool have become very popular for parents looking to teach their children at home. Outschool is website that allows adults to offer classes online.
You don’t need to have any teaching credentials in order to be a teacher. Perks include an average compensation of $40 per hour, the ability to design your own curriculum, and the opportunity to make your own schedule.
Intrigued? Check out the website to learn more.
9) Get Paid to Take Surveys
If you want to make a little extra cash sharing your opinion and experiences, taking surveys is a great way to do that.
Surveys are ideal if you find yourself with spare pockets of time throughout the day. Waiting for a doctor’s appointment? Take a survey.
In the school pickup line? Take a survey.
While you won’t make a lot of money from just one survey, the amount will accumulate quickly if you take advantage of them often enough.
There are several different survey companies out there, but I always recommend Survey Junkie.
It’s one of the highest-paying survey sites and it does a good job pairing you with surveys that you’ll likely qualify for.
Signing up with Survey Junkie is a quick and easy way to start earning cash today.
10) Get Paid to Watch Videos
Watching videos is another very easy thing you can do to start accumulating some cash. While these won’t pay much, they can easily add to the total as you do different tasks to make $100 a day.
Swagbucks and Inbox Dollars are two sites that are easy to sign up and get started with.
I especially like Swagbucks because they offer a lot of different ways to collect points, which then translates into cash or gift cards.
11) Participate in Paid Focus Groups
If you love sharing your opinion, focus groups are a little-known way to make $100 a day.
The best part is that you make money, but it rarely feels like you’re working at all.
You’re often just showing up and testing out a product and giving your feedback or taking part in panel discussions about why you do or do not like a product.
It couldn’t be easier!

12) Get Paid to Walk
Sometimes making money is as easy as getting out there and exercising.
Again, this isn’t something that will allow you to accumulate $100 a day all on its own, but it’s easy to make a little extra cash this way.
Especially since exercising is something you should be doing already!
There are several different apps that pay you to walk, but most require you to have a smartphone and/or some kind of fitness tracker.
If you’re interested in reading more about these, check out my article here: 15 Free Apps that Pay You to Walk: Make Money Exercising
13) Get Paid to Shop for Others
Ah, shopping. It’s a thrill for some and a chore for others. If you love to shop, there are people out there who will be more than willing to pay you to do it for them.
Whether it’s grocery shopping through Instacart or shopping for supplies through Shipt, there are several apps out there that will hire you to become a personal shopper.
If you have enough clientele (getting good feedback is key), then you could make $100 a day doing this job.
14) Get Paid to Drive for Others
Don’t mind spending time behind the wheel? Uber and Lyft are always looking for drivers.
Depending on where you live, this could be an easy way to make $100 a day.
Working successfully at this job does mean you need to live in a high-traffic area, and you likely need to be available to drive during peak hours.
Flexibility is key. This job isn’t for everyone, but if you don’t mind driving and you like striking up conversations with different people, it could be great for you.
15) Sell Your Crafts on Etsy
Etsy is a gold mine for people who make homemade stuff that they want to sell.
If you’re creative or like to craft, you too could make money doing what you love and then selling your things.
There are lots of different things you can sell on Etsy, from homemade soaps or perfumes to hand-knit sweaters to woodworking or artwork.
The possibilities are really endless.
This type of thing can be a bit of work, since you need to make sure you have enough inventory on hand to meet demand, and you also need to arrange shipping, which could mean many trips to the post office each week.
If you need inspiration, head over to Etsy now and browse through some of the best-selling items.
16) Get Paid to Pet Sit
Pet sitting is an ideal way to make an extra $100 because it doesn’t require a lot of extra work on your part, especially if your home is already equipped with animals in mind.
People use pet sitters all the time when they are traveling or can’t be home. Some people even like to hire pet sitters for doggy daycare during the day while they’re at work. If you can walk a dog, feed a cat, or provide some fun for a furry friend, this job might be the perfect fit for you!
It is possible to connect with potential clients in your area using a social network like Facebook, but Rover.com is also an excellent place to advertise your pet sitting services.
17) Work as an Online Tutor
If you aren’t willing to teach an online class, you might want to consider tutoring instead. Online tutoring is a breeze because you don’t have to leave your home or arrange to meet students in person. This also means you aren’t limited to tutoring kids who only live in your local area. When you work online, you can meet up with students across the globe!
There are online tutoring positions available for just about every subject and age group. While you work out on your own as a freelance tutor if you so choose, there are also a variety of companies that hire tutors to work for them.
18) Offer Tasks on Fiverr or Upwork
If you have a service you can offer online and do for others, you could start making money right away on a platform like Fiverr or Upwork.
Fiverr got its start (and its name) by requiring that every service cost just $5, but it isn’t like that anymore.
You can charge what you want (although you’ll likely need to collect at least a few good reviews before you start charging premium prices).
Not sure what to offer? My best advice is to hop onto the website and take a look around to check out some of the other things people are doing. You’ll find everything from graphic design, to article writing, to people writing and singing a personalized jingle.
If you can find something unique that people are willing to pay for, you can make a killing on one of these platforms.
19) Get Paid to Deliver Food
Food delivery services have gotten insanely popular in the last few years, and the novelty isn’t going away anytime soon.
Depending on where you live, you could easily make $100 a day delivering food with a service like UberEats or GrubHub.
In order to succeed, you do need a reliable vehicle and be available on a semi-regular basis to deliver the food.
20) Get Paid to Blog
You likely won’t make $100 a day blogging right away – it does take some time to get started – but once you get going, it’s possible to make much more than that.
There are lots of ways bloggers make money. Advertising, affiliate marketing, and selling their own products are just a few of those ways.
The best ways to be successful are to find a topic that a lot of people are interested in, and then start writing as much helpful content as you can to answer people’s questions that they might have surrounding that topic.
Interested in finding out more?
While you can “wing it” with blogging, I wouldn’t recommend it.
There are lots of tried-and-true systems to follow in order to achieve the best chance of success in the shortest amount of time.
I always think it’s best to learn from someone who’s actually been there and done that, which is why I love Suzi from Start a Mom Blog. Suzi started her business from the ground up and is now very successful in teaching other women (and men, too!) how to become their own money-making bloggers.
21) Do Odd Jobs for Others
If you don’t mind doing odd jobs, you can get paid doing them for others.
TaskRabbit and GigWalk are both apps you can use to find local jobs or “gigs” in your area.
Both of these are easy, no-fuss ways to make some money. You offer to do a task for someone and get paid in the process.
They get the help they need, and you get paid. Win-win!
22) Sell Your Stuff
One of the best ways to make some extra cash is to take a look around your own house. Chances are, you have clothes, books, household items, toys, and gear that don’t fit you, your kids have outgrown, or you just don’t use anymore.
Give yourself a break from all the clutter and sell it.
Many people turn to online platforms like Poshmark, Mercari, eBay, and Facebook Marketplace to sell their goods.
You’ll often get the best money for your items online over just running a yard sale, and you’re less likely to encounter people who want to haggle or offer ridiculously low prices for your high-value items.

23) Start a YouTube Channel
YouTube is a fun way to connect with people all over the world and make some cash in the process. It isn’t a fast way to make $100 bucks a day, but it can certainly build up to a substantial income in the long run.
Making money as a successful YouTuber is all about how many views you get. This means you need to make content that is interesting to people or solves a problem they might have.
Once you get enough views, you can start making money through advertisements and affiliate sales.
If you’re a stay-at-home mom or you’re experienced with children, babysitting can be an easy way to make $100 a day.
You used to have to rely on word-of-mouth or putting flyers on bulletin boards to get a job like this, but not anymore. Now, it’s easier than ever to get a job babysitting using the web.
Three of the best websites to find babysitting jobs are:
- Local Facebook groups
Once you’re on these sites you can set your rates and availability and connect with people in your area who are on the hunt for childcare.
