Being a stay at home mom comes with a lot of perks. For example, I can usually eat lunch whenever I want, wear my pajamas all day, and stay home (or go out) if I choose to.
While these are all great perks, there is one obvious, glaring reason why so many moms don’t (or can’t) stay home with their kids – there’s no paycheck!
While raising children is undoubtedly one of the toughest (and most rewarding) jobs there is, it doesn’t come with a healthy paycheck at the end of each week. That’s a tough break for those of us who really need two incomes to make ends meet.
Luckily, there are plenty of legit work from home jobs for stay at home moms. Use of these 21 ways for stay at home moms to make extra money and find yourself with an extra $1000 or more in your pocket at the end of the month.

1 – Work as a Freelance Writer
Freelance writing is top of my list because it’s how I’ve been making money from home for over nine years, but I’ll tell you a secret – you can make WAY more than $1000 per month with this work from home job.
In fact, my biggest earning month was over $6500, and I was really only working part-time.
I’m telling you that number so you can realize that it’s totally doable, but probably not right out of the gate. $1000 per month is a very realistic goal for someone who’s new to freelance writing.
You don’t need to be a professional writer to start freelance writing for others. In fact, this is definitely an area where you’ll get better the more you do it.
2 – Become a Virtual Assistant
Another one of the best ways to make an extra $1000 per month is to work as a virtual assistant.
The term virtual assistant is kind of a catch-all phrase used to describe someone who acts as a remote assistant. You’ll perform any number of tasks, much like an in-office assistant would, only you’ll do these things from the comfort of your home and in the flexibility of your own time.
One of the best things about working as a virtual assistant is that you can create packages based on the things you want to offer and then offer those packages to busy business owners.
For example, you could choose to offer only email marketing services or customer service services.
If you were working as an assistant in-house somewhere, you’d have no say as to what tasks you’d be asked to perform, and you would (obviously) be limited to just that company.
Virtually assisting turns this on its head. Now you get to call the shots about what you will and will not offer, and you get to work for as many clients as you can handle at one time, easily making $1000 or more per month.
